These are the staff and students of the Titus ProjectWe began our 3 week Titus Training program last Wednesday. It's a very practical teacher training course that ends in a 2 month outreach into local Cape Town communities. (Since Hans and I will be staff of the 9 month School of Biblical Studies that starts in September, we will not be participating in the outreach portion of the program.)
Some things we are learning:
- lecture preparation
- lecture presentation
- learning styles
- teaching in an African context
- reaching oral communicators
- teaching the inductive method
- Bible overview/Church history
We have several practice teachings during the 3 week training and the outreach teams will have a very busy teaching schedule in the local townships, including leading pastors conferences, church seminars, and youth groups (we are hoping to join them for a few of these events). So it is a very hands-on course. We are loving the change of pace and are getting excited about the new group of students that will be arriving in September for the next SBS. After seeing the impact of the school we just completed, we have great hopes and expectations for the next school.
